A portrait about Chamare Lakshan Fernando
– Interview from the 6’th of April 2019, Moratuwa Sri Lanka –
1. When was the last time you felt happiness from the bottom of your heart?
Those days I stayed with my earlier girlfriend I felt happiness from the bottom of my heart. I loved my past girlfriend so much and I just stayed happily with her. I only have good memories with her. It’s not easy for me to accept that because I want to be a good husband. One day, in the middle of the night I had a dream about my past girlfriend. During I was dreaming I spoke about her and my wife, who was lying next to me in the bed, awoke and heard everything. In such moments I feel bad about myself, but I’m thankful that my wife helps me in every situation and stands by me.
2. How would you describe spirituality in your own words?
In my opinion we have a great mind. In meditation we can improve our mind like Siddhartha, who practiced a lot of times meditation and became Buddha. Everybody wants to upgrade his mind. Our lord Buddha has wide knowledge about the universal and nature without the electronic equipment. He knew things like the exact positions of stars and the distance from the earth to the sun only because he upgraded his mind. In the last years modern scientists acknowledged Buddha’s statements about the situation of stars and the distance from the earth to the sun. Everybody who upgrades his mind, which anyone can do, can access a lot of things.
3. Do you believe in a god or a higher power?
I believe in several gods, because I trust they have power to control our life. In my industry all the businessmen believe in gods. Businessmen want some extra help to grow their business and to increase their profit. Our people play with the gods but I’m not doing that. I want to make an example. I believe in the power of this cup of water. You think your business is going down and you constantly come to that cup of water, bring fruit baskets and worship it. You start to believe deeply in the water’s power to increase your business. So you see the water as a god. Now I can raise my mind power because I worshipped the water. Gods can’t help us directly. We can help us with using our minds. I have understood that only yourself can help us. But I also never would neglect the gods, because I am afraid of them.
4. Imagine, the last day of your life has come and there is nobody who has any information about you and your life. All the information has mysteriously been deleted. If I would give you an empty sheet of paper and you could leave a message with the three most important wisdoms of your life, which three wisdoms would you write down?
Respect. Happiness. Familiar
5. What’s your source of power and motivation to manage your every-day-life?
Everything in our life is set up according to our mind. It’s the most powerful tool to generate energy and I have targets which motivates me a lot. I have to run my business, I want to help my family and my colleagues. So with the targets in my head I can generate a lot of energy.
6. Do you pay attention to your dreams and do they have a meaning for you?
Some dreams show us a connection to the mind power. Sometimes I believe in the messages of dreams. We think of our life and have conversation in day times. Then our thoughts will be saved in our memories and you dream of it during night time. In some cases we haven´t talked or realized our thoughts during the day, but we are facing them in nightly dreams. The topic of your dreams comes from the bottom of your heart and can be old memories. There is a second way of dreams. Our powerful mind can shows us what comes in future. Anyone can upgrade his mind to a certain level. When you achieve a high level you got the qualities to dream of the future. It is based on your mind power and my mother has such a talent. From the experience I made with night dreams I have to say that I believe in the meaning of them.
7. What’s your vision for life?
My vision is to stay happily with others. Not only with my family, my friends, colleagues and you, just with everybody. I want to be a good guy. One day I will be dead and my journey of life is finished, I want that the people are sad, because they lost a great guy. I am trying to be a friend for everybody. I will always help people who need help because I feel with them.
8. How would you like your funeral to be like?
In our culture they usually put the dead body in a beautiful coffin with flowers and let the body two to three days in the house. I don’t like that and I would like to finish my funeral in one day. My parents monthly donate food to the temple in memory of their parents. I want to tell my wife that she better should give the money to poor people. In the temple they have enough fruits and money. Please give it to poor people who really need the food.
9. If an artist would draw a picture about your life, what animal would he choose as a symbol for you? What would the landscape around you look like in the drawing? What kind of weather would it be there?
As an animal I would take a lion. They present the strength. I like the forest. Everybody has to show their strength in certain situations of life. Lions are great animal.
